AutoModding Your Silverado’s Truck Bed: 4 Simple Mods

Silverado Truck Bed Accessories

You didn’t buy some three-row, seven seat, softroading SUV for hauling around your kid’s soccer team.  You bought a truck with a bed.  And in your day, you’d just toss the whole soccer team back there anyway and head on down to the Dairy Queen for a post-tourney choco-dipped chocolate cone.  But since that will get you arrested, imprisoned, and ostracized on Facebook for three seconds these days, that leaves your truck bed open to do truck bed things.  But it can only do them so well.  The truck bed leaves your cargo disorganized, exposed to the weather, and vulnerable to the damage that comes with flopping around on a metal truck bed, like that soccer team.  We’ll help.  Here are four of our very favorite bed mods for our 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT Crew Cab with a 5.8 ft bed. 2013 Toyota Tacoma

Yesterday we covered some of the mods Danny has added and plans to add to his 2013 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport Double Cab Long Bed.  Toyota makes some of the toughest trucks on the planet, and Danny wanted tough mods to match, so his Tacoma would be just as good on the trail as it is on the road.  In Part 1, we covered wheels, tires, suspension, brakes, and some performance upgrades.  Today we’re covering appearance, protection, and trail functionality, so strap in.  It’s Part 2 of Danny’s 2013 Toyota Tacoma mods in AutoMods. We just got back from Road Atlanta, which we visited for the Trans Am, GTA, and Formula Drift events last weekend. But that means we’re itching for another track experience, especially with such nice weather. Sadly, we’re office-bound, but that doesn’t mean we can’t follow the action on Twitter. Here’s who we’re following this week. You should, too.

5 Advantages of a Solid Tonneau – UnderCover Lux

UnderCover Lux
Now we come to the third faction in the Eternal Tonneau War: the one-piece, solid tonneau (read previous 5 Advantages of an Extang Solid Fold Tonneau and Truxedo: 5 Advantages of a Soft Tonneau Cover for full comparison). It’s every bit as secure and easy to install as the hard tri-fold, but it has its own distinct advantages over both hard folding and soft tonneaus.  Undercover, though they make their own folding tonneau, the Flex, just added a few more advantages to the solid tonneau with their new Lux line. You can figure out which one is right for you by using UnderCover’s onsite customizer, but here’s our take on why solid, hard tonneaus are better:

Undercover Lux: The Plan to Take the Lead

Undercover Lux Tonneau CoversThe perfect product is rare.  I carry in my pocket, at all times outside airport terminals and government buildings, a folding Smith & Wesson knife.  It has a tanto blade, a good length of serrations, a grippy handle, and a belt clip.  I got it as a groomsman gift for being in my best friend’s wedding, and I think that for the money, it’s just about perfect.  I use it constantly, it hasn’t worn out, and I’m happy recommending it to my friends. We have good news–each of these issues is easily resolved by a number of readily available accessories for your truck. Continue reading “Cargo Management: Avoiding Pain in the Rear”
